innocent inspires

innocent inspires dex diva

I absolutely love innocent smoothies, and I am in awe of how the brand have positioned themselves as an open, honest and interesting company too.

So, when the innocent folks got in touch to tell me about #innocentinspires - creative, inspiring, health orientated events- well, it sounded just like my thing.

I couldn’t go to this first event, but innocent have shared with me some YouTube videos of the inaugural #innocentinspires, which I think will inspire you too! The very first event was all about health, and featured TV Doctor Pixie McKenna, Olympain James Cracknell alongside my friends at Run Dem Crew for an immersive and exciting evening. So, what are innocent inspires events? Right up my street – and probably yours, as readers of my blog which is why I am sharing  - they are curated evenings designed around themes of Health (as in the first event), Ethics, Entrepreneurship, Taste, and Creativity. See? Told you they were good. Oh, and they are FREE *dracula laugh* yes, FREEEEE I tell you!

Stay in touch with events at the innocent website, where You Tube vids will be left as an archive of discussion to form a legacy and community engagement project around each theme. Events are planned monthly and there is an awesome line up for the next few happenings.

Here are some videos from the very first event. Firstly, the evening overview. Next up, James Cracknell’s talkDr Pixie McKenna and Rum Dem Crew.

So, who wants to win themselves a fortnights worth of smoothies? Yep, thought so. Well, innocent just want the message spread of the last event discussions, so are offering my lovely audience vouchers for 2 weeks worth of smoothies. All you have to do is tweet the following:

Hear tips on how to live well and die old with #innocentinspires at youtube.com/innocentdrinksltd. RT @dexdiva to win smoothies

Innocent will be checking in on my Twitter feed and announcing a winner.

I would love to know if the #innocentinspires events tickle your fancy – they sure do mine. Maybe I will see you at one?

Good luck, and happy smoothie drinking!

30 new days of creativity in May

Posted on: Tuesday, April 23, 2013

may creativity

Well hello my lovely Diva readers.

I would like to challenge you to join me next month in a daily practise of creativity, to open those channels of possibility, to engage in new ideas and to just turn little corners on a daily basis for surprising results.

Those of you who have completed my e course, Idea Generation and Creativity for bloggers will know of #newdiva365, the challenge of doing something slightly new every day.

Throughout May, I challenge you to do something new each day, and to create something new each day…it might be a little sketch, a moodboard, mark making of some description, a photographic record….whatever floats your boat. So, the idea is that you combine the input of something new with the challenge of doing something creatively new each day.

It can be surprising how much we hinder our own creative efforts, and this challenge will force you to output creatively in a small way daily to get you in the habit of personal creative practice.

So, for every day in May, starting from next Wednesday, it’s time to use Spring as your Springboard to see where it takes us.

So, to recap:

DO something new each day (read more about #newdiva365 here).

CREATE something each day.

Tweet me @dexdiva with your progress, use the comments below to share your progress and blog posts, and let’s see where May takes us!

I am using Spring as my springboard in May #dexdivacreativity

Enjoy, and see you in the creative zone of May.

Ask the readers: unblocking creativity

Askreaders

Here on Dex Diva I am fascinated by creativity and it’s place in our lives, businesses and, of course, blogs. This week, the wonderful people at Behance featured a blog piece on the top 5 creativity killers, something I will be following up in more detail later right here on Dexterous Diva.

Releasing our imagination and creativity leads to innovation and new opportunities, and the creative process is something I walk through on my e course to help blog writers refresh their brain cells and come up with new ideas.

I asked some of the lovely alumni of Idea Generation and Creativity for Bloggers to let me know how they got on, and the answers have been lovely to read.

The #newdiva365 challenge is something I encourage course attendees to take part in, and it is all about doing something new every day, even just a tiny tweak to change your path and later your mindset. Read More >

This week’s Creative Crush is Andrew MacGregor.  I love the playful use of colour and boldness of his work, and the combination of model making and art  - his work is currently appearing at The Book Club in Shoreditch in a show that opens this week call In it to Win itl in case you hadn’t notice a little thing called the Olympics is taking over East London very soon, and this show is inspired by and taking place during the biggest sporting event London has ever seen.  Directed by Liat Chen. the ground floor bar of the Book Club will be transformed with sports themed installation pieces, constructed from paper. Andrew references vintage Olympic posters for the project, and colourful handcrafted installations will be wall mounted and ceiling hung to create a sense of drama.

Guest Diva Sam on achieving it all with endo

having it all with endometriosis

Earlier this week I wrote a post on building a career with a chronic illness, a subject that is huge in my life. It had an enormous response, and inspired my to pen an e-book which is currently in the making, and also to contact other ladies willing to share their stories and coping techniques. I am thrilled to introduce you today to the  lovely Sam Sparrow – we met last year at one of my Cherry Sorbet workshops and is part of the amazing crew I am proud to call my friends. Beautiful, ambitious, clever, stylish and like a whirlwind of creativity, Sam too has some demons to grapple with. Over to you, hun…

On the face of it, I’m a healthy happy 29 year old with a 9-5 job. Peel away what you see on the surface, and what you actually get is a 29 year old with a busy job, a myriad of outside of work interests and a chronic illness known as endometriosis. It is the condition that no one knows about on the outside – and that makes functioning that little bit tougher. Read More >

Inspiration 16.1.2012

Posted on: Monday, January 16, 2012

I absolutely LOVE bookshelves as pieces of art and expression in themselves, and so I was really excited when I found this site. Bookshelf Porn has done what I thought about doing a while ago (under my moniker The Bookshelf Project), only much better.

This totally brilliant installation by Yayoi Kusama is just pure childsplay creativity in action. Wouldn’t you love to get goin on a room like this?! (via This is Colossal). Aptly entitled Obliteration Room, this is what happens when you have a stark white room and let kids in there with stickers. Brilliant.
