Oh my goodness, Diva readers. I have a new addiction.
So, we know how addictive Pinterest is? I love it for pinning inspiration for design and crafting ideas, (oh and lots of purple hair pics according to my boards). Enter stage left Shopcade; this little gem of genius combines social media sharing with pinning and shopping. I am totally hooked.
It works a little something like this:
- Create lists for gift ideas, specific events, people, or just inspiration ( just like Pinterest)
- Earn money by buying from brands working with Shopcade, and also collect points.
- Share your boards and lists over social media to earn trend points which you can also redeem for products (I know, genius!)
If you log into Shopcade via Facebook, the site will also pull together smart lists and gift ideas for your friends and family based on what they “like”. Very clever indeed.
As well as adding things to your lists from products already on the site, you can also add products directly from a website, or using an “Add”‘ button that you can drag to your toolbar.
Essentially, it’s all the fun of Pinterest, with actual shopping and the bonus of earning commission and points every time you pin.
Social shopping is part of a wider trend; some apps now encourage shoppers to check in ( a little like Foursquare) to gain points redeemable in the retail outlet. This online version combines the ease of shopping online with sharing with your social media contacts and friends on Facebook.
Loads of brands are Shopcade partners, and most of my favourites like Not on the high Street, Diesel, Play.com, Urban Outfitters and ASOS are there already; every time you buy you earn commission too.
Follow my profile and my endless clicking; let me know what you think.Yup, I guarantee you will lose the next hour of your life looking and clicking. Best put the kettle on.
