The fabulous London Printworks Trust is currently facing a 100% cut to their funding. For 2 years, the Brixton based printworks has been centre of excellence for textile print and is an established charity to encourage artists both emerging and established, to develop and fulfil their creative potential.
The Executive Director of London Printworks Trust is the wonderful Lorna Dallas-Conte, a very good friend of mine since she was my course leader for my MA at LCC a few years ago. Lorna sent me the heartbreaking news that LPT is facing complete cuts, but they have a method to raise enough money to keep going.
The Counter Feat project is literally printing money for the cause, playing on longstanding forgery c0nnotations within the print industry. These ‘Art Notes’ are creations by friends of the trust and famous faces such as Victoria Beckham, Will Broome, Zandra Rhodes, Hemingway Design and a glittering array of other famous names. The notes are available in £10, £20 and £50 notes, and each will be a face value donation to the cause,
