I am a die hard Teachers, Peep Show, Sirens and Misfits fan, so Fresh Meat, the latest offering from Channel 4 is right up my preverbial.

Graphics and styling aside (LOVE), the comedy drama documenting a house of mixed bag freshers as they find their feet at uni is spot on.

The combination of characters is so true to life you can’t help but recognise your own uni mates (or yourself?!) in the larger than life personas as they arrive at the house and begin the bum clenchingly embarrassing task of bonding, bonking and becoming students in the freshers term of uni in Manchester.

Kingsley, (Inbetweener’s Joe Thomas) is the guy you feel for and have to love, who is already besotted with beautiful but as yet spoken for housemate Josie. Already I want these two to get together but fear it will be an end of series job.

Vod is the out-there arts student we have all met and know, and Howard is the try hard geek you feel sorry for but try to avoid in real life. Oregon is the ditzy rich girl who seems to be able to buy Vod’s shoes but not her attitude which she would love more than the money she has; then there’s JP, private school toff who is a dead ringer for most of the Cambridge Youth Orchestra I played with in my teens.

Watch it for Robert Webb’s trying-to-be-cool tutor, brilliant one liners and excruciating embarrassment. Then work out which one you are….

(the brilliant trailer is here)
